Getting paid as a Maker

Connect Stripe, how the 80/20 split works, and when payouts happen.

Pineapple Guides

Pineapple pays Makers through Stripe. You need a connected, verified Stripe account before you can use Maker Studio or submit an Agent, so payouts are always possible once you sell.

Connect Stripe

  1. Open the Maker page and find the Payouts panel.
  2. Choose Connect with Stripe and complete Stripe’s onboarding. Stripe asks for identity and bank details on its own pages; Pineapple does not collect them.
  3. When the panel says Payouts active, you are ready. If it says Onboarding incomplete, choose Finish Onboarding to continue where you left off.

What you earn

  • Pineapple keeps a 20% platform fee on transactions. You receive the remaining 80% of each sale.
  • For monthly subscriptions, you receive 80% of each renewal payment as well, not only the first one.
  • You get an email whenever you make a sale.
  • If a buyer is refunded under the 7-day policy, the payout for that sale is cancelled (or returned, if it was already sent) and you get an email about it.

When you are paid

  • Your payout for a one-time sale is held while the buyer’s 7-day refund window runs, so a refund never has to be taken back out of your bank account.
  • The hold is 14 days from the purchase date while you are a newer Maker, and 7 days once you have 25 completed sales (sales that were paid out and not refunded).
  • After the hold, Pineapple sends the money to your Stripe account automatically. The Payouts panel in Maker Studio shows each sale that is on its way and the date it is sent.
  • Stripe then pays it to your bank on your account’s schedule. Stripe also makes brand-new accounts wait about 7 days before their very first bank payout, which Pineapple cannot shorten.
  • Monthly subscription renewals are not held; the 7-day refund window applies to the first payment only.
  • Pineapple may extend a hold while a dispute or chargeback is open on a sale.

If payouts are interrupted

Stripe can pause payouts on an account after it has been verified, for example for a re-review or a problem with a bank account. If a sale or renewal happens during that time, Pineapple keeps a record of what you are owed and pays it out automatically once your Stripe account is active again. Check the Payouts panel and your Stripe dashboard if payouts stop.

Taxes

You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn. Stripe may ask you for tax information during onboarding.
